Construction of the “Mariscina” Waste Treatment Plant, Primorsko-Goranska County, Republic of Croatia

The Project includes:

• Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) Plant for Municipal Solid Waste (MSW): The facility includes a reception and temporary storage unit for incoming MSW, mechanical pre-treatment for shredding/homogenization of the material, a fully automated loading system (reception crane), an aerobic biological treatment unit (Herhof biodrying boxes), a mechanical treatment unit for recovering recyclable materials, production of secondary fuel (SRF), and waste for disposal in the landfill, deodorization, and de-dusting. Auxiliary buildings for storage, control rooms, electrical installations, and administrative offices.
• Liquid Waste-Leachate Treatment Plant: The plant has a capacity of 360 m³/day (15 m³/hour) and is designed and constructed for the treatment of liquid waste from sanitary and personnel service areas, as well as leachate from the waste treatment and landfill site.
• Landfill (ΧΥΤΑ): The capacity of the cells is approximately 1,065,500 m³, which is sufficient for 13 years of waste disposal. The cells are designed in two types of waste disposal areas: closed landfill bioreactor type and a landfill area for the disposal of non-hazardous waste.
